Situated at the heart of Hampshire, in England the home of Cricket, lies the picturesque village of Cheriton. Earliest records of cricket in Cheriton date back to June 1841. Cheriton Cricket Club continues to be a force within local village cricket.
Throughout the Cricket season Cheriton has a full fixture list of friendly matches against local teams and some visitors from further afield. This season finished with the President's XI on Sunday 21st September, played in glorious sunshine! We played approximately to our timetable and bent the rules to involve more than 11 players per side. The Presidents XI won scoring 223 versus Cheriton's reply of 123
The game was followed by a short general meeting to discuss the club's future. On Sunday 5th October at 19:30 in the pavilion there will be an EGM were new officers of the club will be elected.
The club dinner takes place on the 8th November at the Swan in Alresford.
We have played 19 won 8, drawn 3, lost 7, tied 1 and had 8 cancelled or abandoned games. So not as wet as you may think. Stars of this season are Mike Burkie who scored over 500 runs including an innings of 144 nad Charlie Gabb had an avergae of 57. Richard Bunce with 14 wickets, the leading average of 11 and a 5 wicket haul. Andrew Wilcox took 16 wickets in the season. The Wilcox brothers Timothy and Jonathan reduced Shedfield to 16 for 7 in their opening spells. Neither made the 5 wicket mark unfortunately.

Cheriton Cricket Club has a keen love of the game of Cricket, and is renowned for the competitive yet fair manner in which their game is played.
The village of Cheriton provides a fine setting for Cricket and a warm welcome for visiting teams. The Flower Pots Free House situated just across the road is the perfect setting to recount cricketing war stories and to quaff a fine pint of their real ale brewed in the adjacent brewery.
