Situated at the heart of Hampshire, in England the home of Cricket, lies the picturesque village of Cheriton. Earliest records of cricket in Cheriton date back to June 1841. Cheriton Cricket Club continues to be a force within local village cricket. Throughout the Cricket season Cheriton has a full fixture list of friendly matches against local teams and some visitors from further afield.
Everyone is welcome to the following events in March and April:
On the 20th March we will be tidying up the ground and pavilion. A great chance to pay your subs and talk to April & May's captain about your winter preparations and form.
The first fixture is in the evening against Willow Tree on Wednesday 21 April. A warm up fixture for both teams.
We have a pre-season barbecue and a 20/20 competition Sunday 25th April starting at noon. A prime opportunity for all new players to showcase their talents.
Our first Sunday game is at home against Swanmore on 2 May. We have a full fixture card for Sunday games, a few Saturday extras and of course the Sixes competition on the August Bank Holiday Monday.
Cheriton Cricket Club has a keen love of the game of Cricket, and is renowned for the competitive yet fair manner in which their game is played.
The village of Cheriton provides a fine setting for Cricket and a warm welcome for visiting teams. The Flower Pots Free House situated just across the road is the perfect setting to recount cricketing war stories and to quaff a fine pint of their real ale brewed in the adjacent brewery.
